GET INVOLVED IN AFP!

Our chapter has the following opportunities for you to get involved:

Membership Committee

Promote membership in AFP through outreach to fundraising professionals and by advocating the benefits of a professional organization to potential members. Activities include recruiting new members, stewardship with current members, promoting membership at chapter events.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee meets monthly and is responsible for producing three yearly newsletters, writing Press Releases and producing the Morning Call Planned Giving Insert in conjunction with National Philanthropy Day.

Program Committee

Provides oversight for the Chapter’s regularly scheduled meetings and other opportunities for education and professional development. Activities include conducting a survey of members to determine professional development needs, choosing topics for monthly luncheons, and coordinating all educational programs, such as audio-conferences, senior development professional services, and study groups. All chapter members are invited to submit program ideas to this committee.

2012 National Philanthropy Day/Lehigh Valley Forum Sub-committee

Responsible for planning the National Philanthropy Day Awards Breakfast and Lehigh Valley Forum on Fundraising and Philanthropy.  Activities include securing a keynote speaker and presenters for educational workshops, soliciting vendors and sponsors, coordinating awards and ceremony, and preparing promotional materials.

Ethics Committee

Responsible for training, education, and support related to issues of ethics for the chapter.  The committee is always seeking new input and ideas. Activities include planning an annual ethics program and engaging ethics into daily work. Membership in this committee is renewed annually, so if you have not done so since January 1, please let Karen know of your interest.

Youth In Philanthropy Committee

Promotes and encourages the involvement of young people in philanthropy and the profession of fundraising. Activities include representing the chapter at career fairs and other events, offering guidance to youth groups engaged in fundraising activities, and pairing interested college students with AFP members who have internship opportunities. All chapter members are invited to submit development-related internship openings to this committee.

Diversity Committee

The Diversity Committee invites any interested members to join in an important focus of AFP both nationally and locally. Our Mission is to educate our members and the non-profit community in general about the importance of understanding the role that the diverse members of our community play in fund raising. We also see that an additional role of our committee is to promote the fund raising profession as a career option among the diverse members of our community.

Mentor Committee

One of the benefits of your membership in the Eastern PA Chapter of AFP is participation in the Mentor Program.  No matter how long you have been in fundraising, we all have new skills to learn and successes to share. Our objective is to develop our future leadership within the field of fund raising and within the Eastern PA Chapter.

Scholarship Committee

AFP Eastern Chapter Scholarships are available to assist with registration fees for Chapter endorsed programs.  Scholarships will be awarded to individuals with the most compelling need with preference given to AFP members as well as applicants from organizations with operating budgets of $500,000 or less.  The application must be received at least 2 weeks in advance of the event.  All applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Chair(s) with the approval of the Board President and Treasurer.
